Many writers open a word processing program and begin writing a novel, watching the word count, scene count, and chapter count grow. Yet, after tackling one or two full length novel projects in Microsoft Word or some other writing program, one might wonder if there isn't a better way.

That's what Simon Haynes, author of the Hal SpaceJock series of books decided. As a computer programmer with more than 20 years of experience, he was used to working with organized modules. He decided to apply the same principal to a creative writing software project, and thus YWriter was invented.

Now the latest version of YWriter novel writing software is available with some handy new features along with the old favorites. The free software for writing lets the writer create a writing outline, organizing a story into scenes and/or chapters, developing character traits, and building the storyboard in the software.
